it's hard to believe. but the weapons arn't really full mods. They're items with tweaked values in their vanilla script that allows it to work on multiplayer, as for the weapon's visual appearence, they're string values known as "directives" which had been re-purposed for adding sprites into the game.

using mods that add new content or major changes to the game on the client side, will make multiplayer crash. unless it only tweaks values like directives to apply visual sprites.
