    Update: Coming 4/27 - Proteus II Map Redesign

    Hey folks, I know everyone has been fervently waiting for news on our upcoming update and today we are here to pull the curtains back and show you some of what we have been working so hard on! This thing is going to be pretty massive, from entirely new level designs to a reworked melee system to highly enhanced graphics… THIS is what we've been hard at work on!
    That’s all that we can show at this time, as we’re in the thick of getting a lot more in for the update. Here’s a list of everything slated to be added or changed for this update. Please note this list is subject to change and only represents some (not all) of the changes coming!

    Now, I know what the hot topic is - the date. And I'm happy (and relieved) to say, you guys only have to wait a little bit longer. We are targeting April 27th for this release, and we hope to have a beta branch live for testing on April 20th! We will let you know as soon as possible if these dates shift or change.

    We want to thank everyone for their patience in waiting for this patch. We know it's been a while but once you all get your hands on this thing, we think you will see it's been worth it!

    A few small notes;
    Unfortunately at this time, space station crafting did not make it into this update. We wanted to focus on early game and improving the users initial experience. Resource nodes and optimization are currently being worked on and may have issues. Let us know in the comments your thoughts on the update and if you encounter any bugs please report them in the "Report Bugs Here" subforum.

    If you experience issues with you old single player save data, please start over. We have no way of wiping single player data on our end, and there will most likely be compatibility issues.

    This new patch is a product of our efforts to speed up our production process and deliver content faster to you, the player! We hope you enjoy the new goodies and fixes!

    We are reexploring the implementation of the OMPA (robot) in the game and redesigning it's functionality. In the mean time, it has been removed from the game, but we plan to reintroduce it soon!

      Launch these to help your friends locate you or to light up a dark sky!

      Use the Stone Oven to smelt basic ores into ingots!

    This new patch contains a significant amount of bug fixes and performance optimizations. We have focused our efforts these past two weeks towards optimizing last month's large technical systems further along with sweeping up as many bugs/issues as possible, therefore laying the ground work for a solid and stable codebase to build upon.

    • FIXED: the reverse audio issue on creatures.
    • FIXED: Thrown objects now spawn in the correct place and are thrown the correct direction.
    • FIXED: the collision on the bottom of the gav making it slide better.
    • FIXED: Hovercraft no longer spawns kinematic.
    • FIXED: Laboratory now spawns vehicles a few feet off the ground to avoid vehicles spawning inside ground.
    • FIXED: creature spawning at night
    • FIXED: bugs with craft highlighting
    • FIXED: issue with vehicles colliding with low orbit art. Fixed critter spawner layer.
    • FIXED: the dust particles (flash light and head lights no longer affect the dust)
    • FIXED: particle lighting (dust particles should now be darker in shadow)
    • FIXED: removed collision from BuildIcons for FloodLight, StoneOven, and PrimitiveWorkBench.
    • FIXED: multiplayer replication of highlighter and projector for BuildIcons.

    • UPDATED: included fail state for missions that must be completed when they're first given (i.e. FindWreckageSupplies).
    • UPDATED: added Find Shelter Kit mission to separate finding the Inflatable Dome Kit from the other supplies and unlocking the Build Inflatable Dome mission separate from the other supplies.
    • UPDATED: sound load types. Hopefully FIXED the reverse audio issues for the creatures.
    • UPDATED: LODs for the crab monster to be the proper size
    • UPDATED: Ostrich (rig was adjusted to animate properly) and added the LODs files into its model folder.
    • UPDATED: rock materials
    • UPDATE: to bashing rock and build button
    • UPDATED: notification when invited to colony/party to include key name for character menu.
    • UPDATE: death screen now shows what the player was killed by. UPDATE a copy of the death message is sent to other players who are in the same colony and party.

    From there, click on the ‘Betas’ tab.

    2. After you’re done playing the Beta, please give us your feedback by taking a short survey. It should only take roughly 10-12 minutes to complete. Take survey here:

    • Your save from the live build will not carry over to this beta, and vice versa.
    • The beta server in located in the U.S. and might be slower for players outside of North America.
    • When starting the game, we've created an opening tutorial where you can't move until accomplishing certain tasks (this is a work in progress.)

    Key Update Features
    • New base defenses and utilities
    • Stackable habitat structures

    What’s Changed Since the Update’s Beta?
    • Stairs: You can now create stairs for your customizable structures.
    • The Beginning: It has changed quite a bit since you last played.
    • Difficulty: While the default remains unchanged from what you played in the beta, if you’re looking for a challenge, the Extreme Difficulty is much harder. And you can adjust the gameplay to your taste even further with the sliders.
    • Interior Lighting: We’ve improved it.
    • Aziel: Creatures will now spawn on Aziel. However, currently they are the same creatures that exist on Proteus. This will change in the future.

    Known Issues
    • When playing on a public universe or private universe with more than five players, there is a slight chance that structures built might disappear, or be different when logging back in. We are working on a fix, which should be ready to push in the next few days.
    • When crafting, do not immediately log out, because there is chance that your crafting resources will not be saved. We are currently working on a fix.
    • When flying in a ship, the map may malfunction for some players. We are currently working on a fix for this.

    Since The Architect update went live last week, we saw that a lot of you were enjoying creating all types of unique structures. And so we wanted to give you even more custom pieces. Additionally, we saw that a few of you were having issues with joining/inviting to/deleting universes, as well as buildings/utilities disappearing from your base. Those issues have now been rectified in this update.

    So, go forth and build, build and BUILD some more. But if you want further details, please read below.


    ADDED OVER 30 NEW CUSTOM PIECES: More pieces means more creative freedom. And this latest batch of new pieces includes the likes of windowed walls, lighting fixtures, curved walls, a door, and more!

    CREATED A SOFTWARE-SIDE LOAD BALANCER: If you were noticing items/structures missing from your base, this was due to an inherent limit in multiplayer due to cloud bandwidth. So, we wrote a software-side load balancer that automatically compresses the amount of traffic to 1/50th of the space. Meaning, your items should no longer disappear.

    IMPROVED STEAM NAME CHARACTER RECOGNITION: We noticed people with steam names that contained spaces or special characters had trouble inviting, joining, and deleting private universes. That however, has been corrected, so no matter your steam name, you should be able to invite, join, or delete servers with no problems.

    Remember the good ol’ days wandering the original Proteus 2 map with your trusty sidekick O.M.P.A.? Well, we’ve re-established contact with BOTH! You read that correctly, The Lost & Found Update has brought back both the O.M.P.A and the original Proteus 2 map.

    What does this mean? It means the O.M.P.A. has been re-wired, re-worked, and revamped to be better than ever. And as for the original Proteus 2 map coming back, don’t worry about it replacing the current Proteus 2 map, it’s more of an extension. Or think of it simply as the other side of the world. Basically after crash landing on the current Proteus 2 map you can walk towards the sand dunes and be prompted to travel to the original Proteus 2 map.

    How the O.M.P.A. Has Changed
    • You can craft multiple O.M.P.A.s (make an army of them if you please).
    • We’ve created a command menu specifically for the O.M.P.A.s, where you can control/direct 4 at any given time.
    • The O.M.P.A has its own skill tree. Meaning, it’s up to you how you want to improve its performance.
    • The O.M.P.A. now has a persistent existence, so you can fully customize its color, as well as manage its internal inventory.
    • If you lose your O.M.P.A. you can teleport it to your location for half its energy.

    Original Proteus 2 Map Returning
    • You can travel to the original Proteus 2 map from the sand dunes on the current Proteus 2 map.
    • Original Proteus 2 map is now Site B, while current is Site A.
    • When traveling between Site A and B of Proteus 2, you can also do it inside as either the driver or the passenger.

    Other Improvements & Fixes
    • We’ve improved traveling between planets to help reduce incidents of players losing their spaceship.
    • In single player, we’ve corrected the issue where people’s destroyed structures were reappearing.
    • Fixed an issue where the game sometimes crashed when flying a spaceship.
