I do have some modded items that I shouldn't bring to the server, but if I were to store them all on my ship, and not bring them back out until I go offline, would that be OK?

Here at ILB we don't recommend that users have mods that add new assets to the game (ie: Frackin' Universe), as it can cause issues with player compatibility. So I'd personally recommend creating a new character and transferring your non-modded items over, and then uninstalling the mod while on the server. This is because it allows for less of a risk for other players to crash, even if they're stored on your ship, as mods can mess with everything from custom items to planet generation.
